SPARTACUS

Stanley Kubrick's film tells the tale of Spartacus (Kirk Douglas) the bold gladiator slave and Varinia (Jean Simmons), the woman who believed in his cause. Challenged by the power hungry general Crassus (Laurence Olivier), Spartacus is forced to face his convictions and the power of imperial Rome at the height of its glory. Also stars the late Tony Curtis as Antoninus, a young Sicilian slave who leaves his master, Crassus, and joins Spartacus.

THE CONQUERER

John Wayne plays Mongol chieftain Temujin, better known as Ghengis Khan. He must battle the rival tribe that killed his father and win the heart of red haired prisoner Bortai, played by Susan Hayward whom he captured in a raid.

BARABBAS

This is a fictional tale of Barabbas (Anthony Quinn) based on a fascinating extract from the New Testament. When Pontius Pilate (Arthur Kennedy) asks the people of Jerusalem whom they want freed - Jesus Of Nazareth or Barabbas.

GLADIATOR

Roman general Maximus (Russell Crowe) goes from hero to zero, then fights back to win the heart of an Empire in this action packed and emotionally charged blockbuster.
