First shown on BBC TV in the mid 1970s, this series was conceived by the late great Sci-Fi genius Terry Nation (inventor of Dr Who's greatest enemy The Daleks). Screened during the height of the Cold War period the plot was chilling and consequently gripped the nation's imagination.
