Raymond Burr starred as Chief of Detectives Robert Ironside and surviving an assissination attempt, Ironside is left paralysed from the waist down. In his wheelchair he becomes the head of his own special police unit, fighting crime with action and intelligence helped by a crack team of investigators on the streets of San Francisco.

Ironside confronted the hottest issues of its time - civil rights, drugs, rock 'n' roll - giving television its first disabled hero. It also attracted many guest stars including Harrison Ford, Bruce Lee, Jack Lord, Susan Saint James and David Carradine among many others.

Ironside broke new ground in television programming by introducing the new series as a world premiere feature length movie to critical acclaim.
