As the result of unique genetic mutations some children are born with extraordinary powers. Under the tutelage of Professor X these super powered individuals learn to harness their powers and must protect those who hate and fear them from the evil Magneto.

After a shocking attack on the President of the United States the X-Men must stand united with Magneto, their deadliest foe to combat a menace that threatens every mutant and possibly every human on the planet.

X-Men: The Last Stand

After a "cure" for mutation is discovered, mutants can choose whether to retain their superpowers or give them up to become "normal." As Professor X advocates peace and freedom of choice he clashes with the more militant Magneto who believes that the cure will be forced onto mutant kind whether they want to take it or not.
