Mel Gibsons controversial version of the last 12 hours of Jesus of Nazareth's life caused quite a stir at the the time of it's release. It begins in the Garden of Gethsemane after the Last Supper, shows his resistance to the temptations of Satan and betrayal of Judas Iscariot. His arrest and trial ends in a condemnation of death where Gibson shows a powerful human suffering as well the spiritual dimension to Jesus' crucifixion.
