Late Night - Lyn Paul
Description:

Late Night - Lyn Paul

Her Brand New CD - SAME DAY DISPATCH

Nobody could have predicted that the gap between Lyn's first solo album Give Me Love and her second Late Night would be 30 years. And not many could have survived the time span. But Lyn is not just a survivor. With her career flourishing from West End musicals to sold out concert tours, Lyn is in the best of times, right now, and the album shows it.

Reeling in confidence, Late Night is a tour de force, with Lyn choosing the finest of her favourites, sparkling in their diversity, insistent, as they are powerfully performed and charming in their sentimentality. Side by side on this truly remarkable album sit mid century swing time standards, soul and country landmark compositions, and with beautiful audacity, a couple of new tunes.

One of Britain's best all-round entertainers, Lyn Paul came to fame in the early 1970s as a member of the New Seekers. After leaving the group in 1974 Lyn set off on a solo career, recording John Barry's theme song to the film The Dove and scoring a Top 40 hit with It Oughta Sell A Million. Lyn quickly became a favourite on the UK cabaret circuit and a regular in annual pantos. In 1997 she made her debut in musical theatre, taking the lead role of Mrs. Johnstone in Willy Russell's hit musical Blood Brothers. In 2002 she starred in Boy George's musical Taboo and in 2003 she made her appearance in the popular soap Emmerdale. Following her appearances in the TV dramas Doctors and In Deep, Lyn Paul is set to return to our screens later this year in the BBC drama Holby City.

One thing is guaranteed - it will not be another 30 years before the next Lyn Paul album. Late Night shows beyond doubt that if during past three decades we have been denied Lyn's evergreen talents for lifting brilliant songs right up out of their moorings, and putting them back down, when and if she pleases, at least we have all that endearing power right here on this piece of plastic.
